Depo 9 Ofis Dönüşümü, Karaköy
Adaptive reuse of a 1910s harbor warehouse as offices.
Depo 9 was a warehouse built on the Golden Horn in the 1910s. In the conversion the structural system and brick facades were retained; inside, a two-story central atrium was opened and the offices arranged around this void.
Design approach
Some of the old freight lifts and crane rails were kept and became part of the design. Steel bridges and timber floors added to the building let old and new be clearly distinguished. The restoration was carried out with approval from the city's conservation board.
