2024 – National Architecture Awards – Mention: Liman Çarşısı, İzmir
Liman Çarşısı was awarded a mention for showing that mixed-use buildings can contribute a public street to the city. The bazaar street on the building's ground floor handles 18,000 passages a day.
“A public street running through private property.”
Liman Çarşısı, İzmir: A mixed-use building combining a bazaar, offices and housing on the port's historic axis.
The award is not only an achievement for the office; it recognizes the shared effort of the client, local masters, engineers and the office team. All visuals and technical information for the project can be found in the Projects section.
Given every two years, the award evaluates buildings completed in the last two years in culture, housing, commercial and public building categories. The jury consists of architects, academics and a public sector representative.
